I went for a walk down at the river today, hoping to find something to photograph. Being my usual self, I spent the first while looking at the bigger picture, watching a seagull, a kingfisher, a juvenile eagle and some mergansers. After a bit, I started looking more carefully at the ice that had formed along the shore. I found some patterns that looked good, so I thought I'd try my hand at something abstract.

Randy Hall is a Vancouver Island photographer specializing in nature photography, whether it is capturing natural settings such as seascapes or forest landscapes or the plants and animals that inhabit this part of British Columbia.
