Description
Madrona Point in Nanoose. This sandstone ledge is exposed at lower tides and has many interesting formations. At higher tides, it is a great location for snorkeling.

This particular image is actually an HDR product created from 9 images. There was such a difference in light intensity between the bright areas of the sky and the foreground rocks, but I was greedy and wanted to show detail throughout. The 9 images spanned 2.7 steps with an equal spacing of 0.3 step. One of the challenges with this shot was the wind. Fortunately, I didn't have to worry about moving foliage, but the water was rippled and the clouds were moving fairly quickly. All nine photos were taken in a span of approximately 20 seconds, and the resulting image shows a softening in the clouds as well as flattening of the water.
