Every summer in Parksville, we have two firework displays. The larger of the two is Canada Day and there is always a huge crowd on the beach to watch the spectacle. The second event falls in mid-August and it marks the end of Beach Fest. Quite often, it's a smaller display that doesn't have the same fan-fare as the Canada Day event.

This year, the town is still buzzing over how the "little sister" outshone her "big brother". The weather was perfect with a very gentle breeze blowing offshore to help move the smoke away from the crowded beach. The bursts were very nicely choreographed visually and with the accompanying music from the local radio station. They also started the show early enough to take advantage of the failing light of another nice summer sunset.
